Chemistry Teaching and Biology Research Laboratories

diagBox

This project was completed in 2004 and provides new undergraduate Chemistry Teaching Laboratories and Biology Research Laboratories, together with ancilary facilities such as specialist plant and insect growth rooms, Computational Suite and Write up rooms.

The unusual and dynamic nature of the front elevation is a response to the constricted site and expresses the need to provide large rectangular shaped laboratories within a triangular envelope. The building was essentially conceived as a pavilion structure which would respond to and sit behind the line of beech trees. The building interior clearly demonstrates the very high levels of services required for a modern laboratory.
